We are delighted to share that our faculty member, Dr. Hamide Elif Üzümcü, has been awarded the prestigious TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. From June to September 2026, Dr. Üzümcü will be conducting her research project at the Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World at the University of Edinburgh. During her stay, she will be in residence as a "Nominated Fellow" at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH).

Her project, titled "Construction of Islamic Environmental Ethics through Sufi Narrative Traditions in Family Life", is a pioneering study bridging childhood, family, environment, and Sufi studies. By investigating how Sufi families in the UK construct environmental ethics together with their children through storytelling, the research offers fresh, holistic perspectives to contemporary environmental and climate discourses.
