Biyografi

Doğucan Bayram is a research assistant in the Division of Applied Sociology, Department of Sociology, at Social Sciences University of Ankara (SSUA). He is currently pursuing his PhD in Sociology at Middle East Technical University (METU). He received his M.S. degree in Sociology from Middle East Technical University with a thesis entitled An Interpretation of Cybersecurity in Türkiye Through the Lens of Actor-Network Theory. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Sociology from Ege University and in International Relations from Anadolu University. During his undergraduate studies in sociology, he studied at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf as an exchange student.

His research focuses on science and technology studies, the sociology of technology, social theory, and everyday life. In his work, he particularly examines the relationships among cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, digital platforms, and everyday life from the perspective of sociological theory.

Theoretically, his work draws on actor-network theory, the philosophy of technology, the sociology of time and space, and material-semiotic approaches.

His current research agenda follows three main lines of inquiry: the formation of cybersecurity as a sociotechnical regime in Türkiye; the effects of short-video platforms on everyday rhythms and temporal experience; and the positions of research assistants in Türkiye in relation to academic labour, institutional experience, and bureaucratic organization. In these studies, he employs qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews, document analysis, thematic analysis, and digital ethnography.

As part of his academic and administrative responsibilities, he serves as Program Coordinator for the Master’s Programs in Migration Studies and Sociology at SSUA; Departmental Quality Ambassador and Acting Coordinator for the Double Major and Minor Programs in the Department of Sociology; Section Editor and Assistant Editor at ASA Journal, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Faculty Representative within the SSUA Digital Social Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Coordination Office; Organizing Committee Member for the Digital Social Sciences and Humanities Symposium and Workshop; and Deputy Director of the SSUA Center for Survey Research.

He has also served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses including Research Project in Sociology, Contemporary Sociological Theories, Qualitative Research and Analysis in Sociology, Introduction to Sociology, and various other sociology courses. He has advised TÜBİTAK 2209-A undergraduate research projects.
