Our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, chaired the session titled "Access to Services for Vulnerable Groups in the Face of Crises" at the 9. International Conference on Urban Studies (ICUS 2024), held on November 20-22, 2024.
The study titled "2023 Research on Turks Living in Europe: The Border Gate Example," conducted by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), has been published as a comprehensive examination of the ties between Turkish citizens living in the diaspora and Turkey. The study was scientifically supervised by Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, Head of the Sociology Department at Ankara Social Sciences University.

On November 8th, Dr. Erdem Kayserilioğlu delivered an insightful presentation titled "Turkey's Aid Politics in Somalia: A Sociological Analysis of An Emerging Country's Humanitarianism" at Sezai Karakoç Hall. The event, which began at 14:00, attracted sociology students, faculty members, and students from various other departments, fostering a rich environment for interdisciplinary discussion.
The Substance Addiction Panel, organized by the ASBU Addiction Prevention Coordination, was successfully held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The panel featured presentations by Clinical Psychologist Berfin Kaya Ulusoy, Assoc. Prof. Şafak Yalçın Şahiner, Prof. Sutay Yavuz, and Dr. Burak Boz. The event addressed the psychological, sociological, and legal dimensions of substance addiction and dependency.
As part of our Sociology Seminar Series, we are pleased to host Dr. Erdem Kayserilioğlu. In his talk titled "Turkey's Aid Politics in Somalia: A Sociological Analysis of An Emerging Country's Humanitarianism," Dr. Kayserilioğlu will explore Turkey’s aid policies in Somalia from a sociological perspective.
