Ozan Çetiner, Research Assistant in the Department of Sociology at the Social Sciences University of Ankara, presented his research at the 17th European Sociological Association (ESA) Conference, held in Warsaw from 25–28 August 2026.

The study examined nearly a century of institutional efforts to measure and define rural areas, discussing how changes in methodological approaches have been related to shifting state perspectives on rural space and changing social conditions across different periods.
