Sutay Yavuz graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of Sociology in 1999. He received Master's degree in 2002 and Ph.D. degree in 2008 from Hacettepe University, Institute of Population Studies, Economic and Social Demography Program. Between 2004 and 2008 he conducted academic research at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock / Germany) on “Marriage Characteristics and Third Birth in Turkey” and “Life Course Approach to Patterns of Fertility Decline”. In 2009, he received a one-year research scholarship from “Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) Fellowship in Population and Health”, (ICF Macro, Calverton Maryland/USA) for his project “Changes over Time Adolescent Childbearing in Morocco, Egypt and Turkey”. In October 2013, he obtained the degree of Associate Professorship in the field of Demography from the Council of Universities.
He worked as a research assistant and lecturer at Hacettepe University and Ankara University. Between 2012 and 2015, Yavuz served as coordinator and expert at the Prime Ministry Presidency of Foreign Turks and Related Communities. From June 2015 to July 2018, Yavuz worked as a Faculty Member and Director of Foreign Affairs Center at Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (PAITME). Between October 2018 and February 2019, he worked as Associate Professor at Social Work Department of Gazi University. March 2019 onwards, he has been a faculty member of Sociology Department at Ankara Social Science University.
Sutay Yavuz has a large number of researches articles, papers and book chapters in Population, Aging, Migration, Family Demography and Sociology and related areas.
