Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, Head of our Sociology Department, delivered a seminar at the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research (IPSS) in Japan.

In his presentation titled "Navigating the Silver Wave: Türkiye's Response to Accelerated Aging", Prof. Yavuz outlined Türkiye’s demographic transition and aging policies, and met with Dr. Hayashi Reiko, President of the Institute, alongside key institutional experts.

Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz engaged with research teams conducting studies on National Transfer Accounts (NTA)—which form the foundation of Japan's Long-Term Care (LTC) system—as well as teams focusing on the educational and daily life experiences of children of foreign origin and the social participation of individuals with disabilities in Japan.

Gathering valuable insights into the scope, methodology, and implementation processes of these studies during his discussions, Prof. Yavuz concluded his visits, which offer important implications for Türkiye as well.

Our Department Head has returned to Taipei to continue his research on population policies at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, as part of "The Taiwan Fellowship." We congratulate him on this impactful international academic engagement! 👏
