The 18th National Social Sciences Congress, hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Middle East Technical University (METU), was held between September 24–26, 2025. The congress brought together researchers from across the social sciences to share insights on various themes related to society, structure, and human interaction.
Representing the Department of Sociology at Ankara Social Sciences University, Research Assistant Ceylin Özyurt delivered a presentation titled "The Ability to See as a Symbol of Contextual Normality: A Study on Interactions Between Blind and Sighted Individuals."
Her presentation examined the role of visual ability as a marker of social normality, offering a contextual analysis of the interactions between blind and sighted individuals. The study drew attention for its critical perspective on how bodily differences are socially constructed and experienced within interpersonal relations.
