The article titled "Feminization of Labour Migration from Uzbekistan to Turkey: The Role of Neoliberal Policies, Patriarchy and Social Networks" by Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akçapar, one of the faculty members of our department, has been published in the SSCI-indexed journal Central Asian Survey.

During the first week of the 2024-2025 academic year, a meet-and-greet was held with first-year students as part of the Introduction to Sociology course. The department chair, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Duman and research assistants Doğucan Bayram and Ozan Çetiner, attended the meeting and provided information about the department.

Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, Head of the Sociology Department at Ankara Social Sciences University, discussed with VOA the decline in life expectancy and the rise in the elderly population in Turkey. He emphasized that access to healthcare, lifestyle, and economic conditions contribute to this trend, stressing the importance of focusing on healthy life expectancy. He also noted that Turkey lags behind EU countries in this regard, and the demand for elderly care services is growing.
