Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz Provided Insights to VOA News: "Life expectancy in Turkey is decreasing, while the elderly population rate is increasing."

Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, Head of the Sociology Department at Ankara Social Sciences University, discussed with VOA the decline in life expectancy and the rise in the elderly population in Turkey. He emphasized that access to healthcare, lifestyle, and economic conditions contribute to this trend, stressing the importance of focusing on healthy life expectancy. He also noted that Turkey lags behind EU countries in this regard, and the demand for elderly care services is growing.

Focus Group Discussions on Sociological Analysis of Suicide Cases in Ankara Have Been Conducted

As part of the "Research on Suicide Cases in Ankara Province," conducted in collaboration with the Ankara Governor’s Office, the Department of Sociology at Ankara Social Sciences University held a focus group discussion with personnel from Social Service Centers affiliated with the Ankara Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Services. The study is led by the Head of the Sociology Department, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, with support from Research Assistants Ceylin Özyurt and Ozan Çetiner.
