As the Department of Sociology, we continue to provide training programs aligned with the requirements of the digital age in the fields of data literacy and contemporary analysis techniques.
Our Sociology Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, took part in a program recorded by TRT, where he shared his sociological perspectives on family structure, social change, and current societal issues. The filming took place at the Sumerbank building, where Prof. Dr. Yavuz discussed the transformation of the family in Turkey.

As the Department of Sociology, we continue to offer training programs focused on data literacy and contemporary analysis techniques in line with the demands of the digital age. Our four-week training program titled "Data, Data Structures, Database, and PowerBI" is currently in its second week, drawing strong interest from students.
In the November 2024 call of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A Undergraduate Research Projects Support Program, 12 of our students submitted 6 different research proposals. We are pleased to announce that 3 of these projects have been accepted for funding.

We are delighted to announce that Doğucan Bayram, Research Assistant in our Department of Sociology, has contributed to the Turkish translation of the book “Sociology: A Down-To-Earth Approach” by translating three of its chapters!

On February 14, 2025, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, head of our Sociology Department, attended the inaugural Scientific Advisory Board meeting of the ThirdGen Project at the University of Warwick, UK. The ThirdGen Project focuses on the migration stories of Turkish grandchildren, aiming to explore the experiences and adaptations of third-generation Turkish immigrants.
