Our Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Sutay Yavuz, has been awarded the prestigious "2026 Taiwan Fellowship" by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, R.O.C. (Taiwan).

Prof. Dr. Yavuz will be serving as a visiting scholar at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, from June to September 2026. During his research visit, he will conduct his project titled “Responding to modern demographic challenges: Taiwan’s Population Policy on Aging and Low-Fertility.” The field research will involve expert interviews with national institutions, public agencies, and key policy stakeholders in Taiwan.

Focusing on how societies facing low fertility and rapid population aging design and evaluate national responses, this study aims to enhance comparative academic knowledge and foster constructive policy learning between Taiwan and Türkiye.
